The Core Conversation

The Core Practice is a space where movement meets reflection. Rooted in Pilates, but not limited to it-

This is where the practice expands beyond the physical.

A place to slow down.
To notice.
To reconnect.

Through The Core Conversation,
this space explores what it means to move with intention-
in the body, and in the way we show up.

This isn’t about perfection.

It’s about presence.

The Quiet Strength of Humility

The Core Conversation, No. 5

I think one of the rarest qualities a person can have is humility.
Not performative humility. Not pretending to “stay small.” But the kind that allows someone to keep learning, keep listening, and keep growing without needing to prove they already know everything.

The older I get, the more I realize humility is deeply connected to self-awareness. It takes humility to admit when you’re wrong. To change your mind. To ask for help. To walk into a room and not need to be the most important person in it.

And honestly, I think one of the most humble things someone can do is admit they value humility in the first place. Because somewhere along the way, humility started being mistaken for weakness, when really, it’s one of the strongest qualities a person can carry.

I’ve met people who are incredibly talented, successful, intelligent, and accomplished, but the people who leave the biggest impact on me are usually the ones who remain grounded despite all of it. The ones who still make people feel seen. The ones who don’t need constant recognition to feel secure in who they are.

Humility doesn’t mean shrinking yourself.
It means being secure enough in yourself that you don’t have to constantly inflate who you are.

Pilates has humbled me more times than I can count. Injury humbled me. Starting over humbled me. Realizing I don’t have everything figured out humbled me. But maybe that’s part of growth understanding that becoming more of yourself often begins with letting go of the need to appear like you already are.

Maybe that’s why I admire humility so much.
Because in a world where everyone is trying to be louder, humility feels peaceful. Quietly confident. Rare.

And maybe that’s the irony of it all, the people who carry the most humility are usually the ones who don’t stop to tell you they have it. You simply feel it in the way they move through the world.
